North Eastern Continent

North Eastern Continent

the Eastern Continent is generally separated into simply the north and the south. The northern half is comprised of three large countries that emulate Japan, Korea and China. They are Yakushima, Goreyo and Xia Xuan.

Yakushima

For role playing purposes, Yakushima emulates Japan. It is a land is comprised of nearly 70% mountains, but with many valleys, rivers and abundant agriculture. A significant portion of the country is also forested, but with a relatively large population given its size. The country is currently divided with rulership by five families, each representing one of the elements. Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Wood. The capital city is Kanda located on Hakasa Bay. There is a good amount of trade and cooperation with Goreyo.

Goreyo

Goreyo emulates Korea in many ways and is even more mountainous that its sister country of Yakushima across the Emerald Sea. Nearly 80% mountainous, Goreyo is dotted with small valleys and narrow coastal plains. There are numerous rivers, forests and islands and the country is ruled by a king and a consortium of merchant families. The capital city of Mokpo is located on the Seom river that feeds into the Emerald Sea. There is a good amount of trade and cooperation with Yakushima currently. Mostly to give Xia Xuan significant pause in attempting any action against their northern neighbors.

Xia Xuan

In many ways, Xia Xuan emulates China. It is both vast and populated by various sub-groups. The geography of Xia Xuan is incredibly diverse, ranging from mountainous regions and high plateaus to fertile plains and coastal lowlands. The country is characterized by a three-step staircase relief, with the highest points being the in southeastern plateau and progressing into lower landforms towards the north, east and especially toward the western half of the country. The mountains in the south are some of the highest on the eastern continent and effectively create the divide between the north and south. Xuanese people in general think of the entire continent being part of Xia Xuan and under the influence, control or in some cases, domination by the Dragon Emperor.
